DIMENSIONS AND UNITS

Any physical quantity can be characterized by a dimension.

Primary Dimensions: mass, length, time, temperature

Derived Dimensions: Velocity, Volume

Unit: Measure of the magnitude of a dimension.

WEIGHT AND MASS

Weight

Downward force in a given gravitational environment.

Mass

Downward force in a given gravitational environment divided by the acceleration of gravity in that environment.
